Our driver is waiting for you at your address at 7:30 am. Please, don’t be late because of traffic jams which starts just 10-15 minutes later.

Trip from Belgrade

From Belgrade to the first place of interest are less than 3 hours of the ride. The first half of that ride is a comfortable drive via “Miloš The Great Highway”, and the second half is a ride through Mountains between towns of Valjevo and Bajina Bašta. During this ride, you will definitely enjoy the sightseeing of the Serbian countryside and nature. Landscapes which you will see look like that they are edited in a photoshop.

Gate of Podrinje

First stop (except you need a toilet or a coffee stop before) is Gate of Podrinje (Drina valley). This is a viewpoint from a Debelo Brdo (Fat Hill) mountain near Bajina Bašta. From this place, there is a great sight on the Serbian and Bosnian Mountains around Drina River which is the natural border between Serbia and Bosnia. If we have luck, the bottom of this valley is often covered with a mist that gives you a fairytale sighting.

We can guarantee that you will have great pictures from the Gate of Podrinje. It looks really impressive.

Drina River House

After the Drina Gate, we will descend from the mountain to the Drina river for about 20-30 minutes. Shortly after wee sees the colorful Drina, we will arrive at the town of Bajina Bašta, famous for the Drina River House.

This wooden house is unusual because it is built on the rock in the middle of the river. Photos of that cabin won many prices of famous magazines including National Geographic.

 Tara National Park

After taking photos at the Drina, we are going on a 40 minutes ride trough Tara National Park.  Even do we already had a ride through the mountains, Tara Mountain will be interesting because of completely different scenery. From Fat Hill, we had an “infinite” view at the surrounding mountains. But in Tara National Park you will enjoy a ride through thick pine forest. If you are lucky enough, maybe you will see the bears. Tara National Park is the last protected area for the bears in Serbia.

Mećavnik Wooden Town at Mokra Gora

Mećavnik is an ideal place to have a rest from a ride, and to have lunch before the Šargan train. This is a replica of an old traditional village of this area. It was an idea and a project of a Serbian movie director Emir Kusturica. Because he was working in Hollywood, his guest in Drvengrad (Wooden town) was many Hollywood stars.

Šargan Eight Railway Train Ride

Šargan train station is less than 1 kilometer from the Mećavnik. The train starts at 1:30 pm.

This is maybe the biggest tourist attraction in Serbia. And of course, this is a highlight of this private tour. About the beauty of the surrounding of the railway is needless to spend the words.

Train raid is a 2-hour round-trip through Zlatibor, Mokra Gora, Tara, and Šargan Mountains. On this journey, the train will stop at the many attractions such as viewpoints and waterfall. On that stops you will have enough time to exit from the train and enjoy sightseeing.

Return from Mokra Gora to Belgrade

Return to the Belgrade will be through easier and faster road, but still interesting. It takes about 3 hours to get back.

After Mokra Gora Private Tour,  if you have not already paid online, you can pay in the car with either a card or by cash.

This is a description of the Sargan and Mokra Gora full-day excursion. If you wish to exclude or include some places, or you wish a two-day tour we are at disposal for an hourly-rated private tour. But keep in mind that Šargan Train has own schedule.

Šargan Eight  Railway Season

Šargan Railway is not open during the winter. Because of deep snow on Mokra Gora and Tara Mountains, it operates from April until November.  Keep in mind that on the Tara mountain can be up to 10 degrees colder than in Belgrade. Bring your jackets!

Šargan Train Tickets

Ticket for the Sargan train costs 900 rsd (450 rsd for children). The train ride is a 2-hour round-trip with many stops for picturing on a great viewpoint. 

Because the train starts at 13:30, if you wish to have lunch at Mećavnik before a ride, we don’t have much time to spend on Drina and Gate of Podrinje. But about 15 minutes on each stop will be more than enough to make some awesome photos of those beautiful places.

Mountain Roads

Keep in mind that Serbian mountain roads are curvy with a lot of altitude changes. If you have a problem with a car sickness it is better to take some pills against it. But no worries, those roads are safe and view on a landscape during the ride will leave you breathless!
